Joining oculus Empty Joining oculus

Post by King Sat Feb 28, 2015 10:53 am

l u m i n i a has fallen dark, contrary to the great luminosity implied by its name. And not so simply dark, as if one were to dim the lights in an otherwise bright room. No light exists in the land of Luminia. No light that is... natural, at least. Wolves can't live in total darkness. There are these beings called Shadows which roam the rugged ground of Luminia and can really do no damage to anyone, other than bother them with their moaning and groaning and endless complaining about how dull everything is. Shadows are beings of darkness risen from the dead of Luminia, ruling the dark land and driving the living to insanity with their contagious negativity. Shadows aren't all bad news, though, as killing a Shadow results in the creation of a naturally glowing stone called a Brite. Before I get to Brites, I must reinforce the fact that it is nowhere near easy to kill as Shadow, as you cannot physically touch one. A Shadow's only weaknesses are the emotions it can't feel -- positive ones. Happiness, determination, hope. It is hard for us to feel these emotions when we are afraid, which is why only certain wolves carry Brites.

b r i t e s are small stones, about the size of a human thumb nail. They are created when a Shadow dies, but only few may wield them. Because light is so scarce in these lands, Brites are small wonders that only the worthy may handle. If someone who is not worthy touches a Brite, then their being will be flooded with all the darkness of a Shadow and their body deteriorates from the inside, out. Those who can wield the Brites, though, are called Lieges -- Lieges to the Light. Their hearts are so full and strong that even the Shadows fear their brightness, and thus they are allowed to wield the Brites to make life in total darkness less terrible.

▲ there is a solution for total darkness, however, and that solution is called The Oculus. Architecturally speaking, an oculus is a small hole, or window albeit, which allows light to pass into a room. This legendary Oculus is said to be inside a dark, deep, winding cave which contains the most terrible of all the Shadows. Once a wolf brave and strong of heart enough is able to best this cave and reach the Oculus, they must pass through the light shining down. It is said that the lightness of their heart combined with the light from the sun will create enough light to illuminate all of Luminia once more.

But of course -- that's just legend.

▲ what is oculus? Oculus is a semi-literate to advanced roleplay-based pack set in the mythical land of Luminia. Our forum roleplay has a post limit of 100 words, which is about 6 sentences, and no word count maximum. We are equipped with a nice, understading staff, a website, a WolfQuest forum, and many more future ways to reach out to our members. We have many ranks available in the roleplay in order to satisfy our members.

▲ o n e Joining Oculus means that you are agreeing that you will be able to comply to the 100 words per post minimum. We promise you that it is not hard, and even if you don't think you can pull off 100 words, we encourage you to try.

▲ t w o The main thing you need to know in the roleplay of Oculus is the following (it's on the join form! Just highlight the text): ( never touch a Brite )

▲ t h r e e As our roleplay can be mature at times, we do not encourage COPPA users (users under the age of twelve) to join Oculus. Nobody is stopping you guys, but it would probably just be best if you stayed away.

▲ f o u r Don't be rude to another user. No matter how hard somebody may push your buttons, don't be rude. Oculus is a friendly community and thus you are required to be friendly. If you have a problem with a user, please privately contact a staff member.

liege
These are the Lieges to the Light. They are entrusted by the collective democracy of the pack to carry Brites around their necks and illuminate pathways for the rest of the community. Lieges are very important, as they are in charge of light.

Liege of Sunrise Morrigan [ action bat ]

glim
Being a Glim means that a Liege sees a spark of potential in you -- as if one day, you two could carry a light. This is a great honor, as not just anyone is permitted access to light.
honorary glim none

the lambent
The Lambent are strong. There is no other way to describe them. Their frames are constructed with big bone and pounding muscle. Their job is to intimidate the Shadows, flex their muscles and fight in order to allow the independence of the land to flourish.
most lambent none
Ashton
[ open group ]

the vivid
The Vivid are essentially the shamans of the pack. They have the ability to speak to shadows -- hear their pleas -- and are practiced healers, being able to identify and cure most every illness in their prime.
most vivid none
[ open group ]

beam
Beams run out and scout the borders with the Lieges. Beams are known for being especially fast runners and for having very good eyesight as well as for their photographic memories, being able to glance and a small sector of land and memorize it with just the light from the Brites.
honorary beam none
[ open group ]

flare
Flares, like Beams, are known for their great speed and memory. They are in charge of communication in the pack; the messengers, albeit. If a wolf needs a message delivered to another wolf, he tells it to a Flare, and the Flare is in charge of delivering it in perfect accuracy.
honorary flare none
Octavia [ mist haven ]
[ open group ]

dusk
Dusks are those who are unknown by the members of the pack. They are outsiders, roaming the darkness and stumbling about endlessly in hopes of finding light. All new members begin as Dusks.
Maeve [ joannabanana ]
